The quick start guide helps you to get started with the Particle-Size Toolbox using runpst via Matlab's built in graphical user interface.

Step 1: runpst

  • To get started with the Particle-Size Toolbox you must first create a PST project file
    • Enter runpst in the Matlab command window
runpst

    • runpst needs a PST project file to run. Press 'OK' to continue.

    • Press 'OK' and then select 'New Project' from the next window:

    • Choose a directory where you want your PST project files to be stored

    • startpst creates a PST project directory called MyProjectName in the directory you select.

    • MyProjectNamecontains a PST project filecalled pstprj [timeANDdate].mat and a series of sub-directories:
      • Data - data imported and processed by the PST are stored here
      • Figures - figures you create are saved here
      • LogFiles - contains log files that record all the operations performed in a particular PST project. Log files are labeled with a timeANDdate stamp.

    • When the new PST project has been created the following log will appear in the command window
A new PST project was created at 11_31_55 26-3-2012
D:\sroberson\Dropbox\Particle Size Toolbox\Data\PST Projects\MyProjectName\pstprj [11_31_55 26-3-2012].mat
PST project created using MATLAB 7.11 (R2010b) on PCWIN64
Data are saved to:
D:\sroberson\Dropbox\Particle Size Toolbox\Data\PST Projects\MyProjectName\Data
Input data files are copied to:
D:\sroberson\Dropbox\Particle Size Toolbox\Data\PST Projects\MyProjectName\Data\ImportData
Files exported to Isatis are saved in:
D:\sroberson\Dropbox\Particle Size Toolbox\Data\PST Projects\MyProjectName\Data\Isatis
Figures are saved in:
D:\sroberson\Dropbox\Particle Size Toolbox\Data\PST Projects\MyProjectName\Figures
verbose logging is ON

To turn verbose logging OFF enter: 'verbose'
in the command line window
To continue with this project enter: 'runpst'
in the command window

  • startpst is also used to load PST projects by selecting Load project and selecting a project file

Functions

The functions in the Particle-Size Toolbox can also be accessed by the standard Matlab format:
output = function(input);
