Presentations

In April 2011 a presentation was given by Sam Roberson at the European Geoscience Union about integrating particle-size data into a single format. Click these links to download the slides for this presentation and to read the abstract.

A presentation about modelling particle-size distributions in the Netherlands was given at the International Association for Mathematical Geology in Salzburgin September 2011. Click these links to download the slides for this presentation and to read the extended abstract.

In March 2013 Sam Roberson gave a presentation at the Irish Geological Research Meeting in Derry. This talks gives a brief introduction to geological modelling and an overview of the aims and workflow of the PST. Download the presentation slides here.

At the British Sedimentology Research Group Annual meeting in Hull, December 2013 Sam Roberson gave a presentation on 'Modelling complete particle-size distributions from operator estimates'. Download the poster here.

Articles

Three papers have been written about some of functions in the particle-size toolbox and their application to real data.

  • 'Numerical methods for integrating particle-size frequency distributions' in Computers & Geoscience looks at the functions included in the integrate module. Link to the abstract .

  • 'Inter-instrument comparison of particle-size analysers' in Sedimentology looks at the functions that are used to convert from one particle-size analysis technique to another. Link to the abstract.

  • 'Modelling complete particle-size distributions from operator estimates of particle-size' considers the best approach to using verbal descriptions of the composition of sediment samples within the framework of geological modelling.
